The alternator has been working fine (thanks Jorge!), and I revived the solar panel by trickle charging the cabin battery overnight at my parent's farm. Since Jorge had bypassed the isolator, the alternator was only charging the ignition battery, while the solar panel was charging the cabin battery. This wouldn't be a problem, except the solar panel couldn't keep up with the amount of power the fridge was consuming. This was a problem.
I replaced the isolator, so now the alternator will charge both batteries, and the solar panel has a bit of help powering the fridge, just like before. Problem solved, right?
WRONG.
I didn't hook up the wire to the fridge! Everything's working well, but the fridge is not connected to power. It should be an easy fix, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Work have slowed down. The project that I'm working on is coming to an end, and I have the open road in my sights. I am targeting September 12 as my departure date, and my first commitment is in Bend, Oregon on September 24 for Hopsfest, where I'm meeting a buddy who will be down there with some friends.
Next blog post I shall wax eloquently about the lessons learned from van life....
